How do you fix floaty AI video pacing, and when should you stop doing it in Resolve?

How do you fix floaty AI video pacing, and when should you stop doing it in Resolve?

Generated clips often feel floaty: motion eases late, holds run long, and cuts miss the VO. Resolve can retime, optical-flow, and grade that. For paid social, you may be fixing a take that should have been swapped. eonik lets you recut usable spans inside an on-brand ad instead of finishing a bad generation.

Why generated motion feels floaty

Camera footage has shutter, inertia, and a human operator. Veo-class models synthesize plausible motion without those constraints. Experience: holds linger, gestures complete too slowly, and a “snap” you wanted is a smear.

Resolve’s retiming and optical flow can tighten that. So can a blade and a shorter take. If the idea is wrong, beautiful flow still ships a wrong ad.

When Resolve is the right hospital

Use Resolve when this take is the take: hero film, colour match to a campaign LUT, or a single cut that will not spawn twenty hooks. Retime, flow, grade, deliver.

Do not build a paid-social testing program on optical flow. You will fall in love with rescue work. Swap the generation or the opening instead.

Assembly instead of endless rescue

In eonik, the clip is a component: hook, proof, CTA. If pacing fails in the first three seconds, swap the hook take. If the body drags, shorten the span or pick another generation. Brand kit stays, and you approve the new cut.

That is not “AI will fix pacing.” It is refusing to grade a take that should not ship. Taste stays yours.

What usually breaks

  • Optical-flowing a take whose idea is already dead.
  • Matching AI motion to a LUT for hours before checking whether the hook is even the test.
  • Using Resolve as a variant factory and losing brand lock across exports.

Consider whether you are finishing a film or testing an ad. Rescue films in Resolve. Make the ad cut in eonik and approve it. Full loop: how to generate AI ads

“On the average, five times as many people read the headline as read the body copy. When you have written your headline, you have spent eighty cents of your dollar.”

That principle still holds. The next on-brand cut is yours to approve.

Questions

Should I always retime AI clips in Resolve?+−

Only when that take must ship as a finished film: hero colour, a LUT match, or a single cut that will not spawn twenty hooks. For paid-social cells, swapping or shortening the take is usually the honest fix. Optical flow on a dead idea still ships a dead ad.

Can eonik optical-flow like Resolve?+−

Do not expect a colourist’s retime and flow toolset. eonik is a Mac app for on-brand ad assembly: recut usable spans, swap takes, keep kit, then you approve. Keep Resolve for grade, optical flow craft, and films. Different jobs, same footage library.

Is floaty pacing a reason to abandon Veo?+−

No. Treat generations as takes, not finished ads. Pick the usable span, recut, or regenerate the opening. Then assemble with kit on Mac; You still decide what ships; Floaty motion is a take problem, not proof that generators are useless for ads.
